The Ghost Inside

Though I'd try and balance it out a little, and post some HEAVY METAL! from soft pop to this, I said I would cover a range of music.
I haven't been listening to these guys long, I first found out about them when they were announced for Download Festival (Seen as though I'm going I analysed every announcement thoroughly) when they were announced I genuinely didn't know who they were, as far as I was concerned I had never listened to them before. Then, one day when I was listening to them on Spotify something clicked... I remember I saw a band  back in 2011 supporting 'A Day To Remember' on the Eastpak Tour in Manchester (England) that had ghost in their name, after a bit of research I discovered it is the same band! so I had gone from 'never listening to them' to 'Oh wait I have seen this live' I don't remember much of the gig but I can remember every band that played were incredible live as that gig acted as a catalyst in my listening to heavy metal career...
ANYWAY, about the band. They'awesome. Simples (Meercat voice(If you are unaware of this, search compare the meercat)(best advert on television)) They combine absolutely mind bendingly good 'shouting' vocals and heavy guitar riffs/ basslines to produces monstrous tracks, pretty much all I can say other than, when I listened to this 'Engine 45' my jaw physically dropped after about 4 seconds...

Well here it is :)

Let me know what you think!
Ps- Their latest album 'Get what you give' is a corker. I'm always listening to it on spotify.

Nim Eloi

So I have had another request, Nim Eloi is his name. He is a Puerto Rican pop singer that has a  very similar sound and feel to Eirik (Somebody I have mentioned before) he is also 17 like Eirik... MAYBE HE IS EIRIK IS DISGUISE!
Again I have ventured out of my comfort zone here, gone out of 'my music circle' I won't lie,  I'm not really a fan of this kind of music (as I have mentioned before).Anyway about Nim, this guy does have some real talent! He is  Puerto Rico's answer to Justin Bieber, lyrics about love and girls that are put across by a very versatile voice. From the video he has provided me I can see that he is a very good singer, and if you like the whole lovey-dovey side of music you will certainly love this guy..
Looking at the statistics of his YouTube account I can see he is a very popular boy, with a lot of fans and praise in the comments section, in fact on the video I will attach to this post every single comment says 'love this song!' and like I have mentioned several times he is very talented, so it is hard not to like if you are a fan of pop music.
Give it a listen....

Let me know what you think...

Shinedown

This incredible Hard-rock/ alternative metal band are from Jacksonville, Florida in the US. I have loved these guys since 2009 when my music taste started to really branch out.
I'm not going to lie, Brent Smith (Shinedown's lead singer) is in my top 5 vocalists, his voice is incredible and really powerful. He can sing as well as 'shout' he can pretty much sing anything. He has a similar singing style to Miles Kennedy, in fact Shinedown may be compared to Alter Bridge.  The whole band are amazing not just the singer, and they generate some of the best music in the world in my opinion.
Shinedown have 4 albums out with a 5th due out relatively soon, as Brent Smith has already stated the album is complete. My favourite however was released in 2008 it is named 'The Sound Of Madness' and is in the top ten albums of all time in my opinion. (Please, please, please listen to their others too to get a real feel for the band)
They have recently released tour dates in the UK where they are supporting 'Alter Bridge' with a band named Halestorm (who I will do a post on if you would like). This is one of the best gig lineups I have ever seen, so I am obviously going! Roll on October.
Anyway, this is my favourite track...

Let me know what you think.

Lumineers

These guys seem to come from nowhere! I had never heard of them and now they're massive! Very popular. They are a folk- rock band from Denver in the US.
I wasn't really a fan of the whole folk scene until 'Mumford and Sons' became apparent a few years ago, and soon as I found out there was another folk rock band in the charts I was rather intrigued and decided to listen to them. When I searched them on Spotify and listened to their most famous track, I realised my girlfriend had been playing this song to me for ages! She seems to love them. After listening to that track (which is my fave) I then progressed onto their next tracks and discovered I loved everyone! My second favourite track by them is named 'Stubborn Love' (definitely listen to this) They released an album at the beginning of this month which is simply named 'Lumineers' is one of my favourite albums of the year (strongly recommend you listen to it in its entirety)
When Leeds and Reading festival made their main announcement many people were disappointed to this this band so high up the bill, they are playing fourth down, which is a spot which has facilitated such bands as 'Jimmy Eat World' and 'Cypress Hill', but when I realised they were playing I was so happy and I can't wait to see them. Anyway this is my favourite...

Pure Love

Well the lead singer is "Frank Carter" from the Gallows, he left the Gallows to form Pure Love. He wasn't happy with the direction in which the Gallows were heading, he wanted to leave it all behind hence why he left. After he left the Gallows he took up singing lessons (Let's face it, he didn't do much singing in the Gallows) Nobody knew what Pure Love were going to sound like until they played songs on Valentines day in 2012 at Bush Hall in London, after which they released a few singles. They turned out to be kind of alternative rock/ punk rock, which is a million miles away in terms of vocals from where he was at with Gallows who are a  metalcore/hardcore-punk band.
When their sound came out, the opinions on the band were very mixed. Comments like "What are you doing Frank" plagued the bands YouTube videos, but Frank did answer his critics in the first line of their first single. he SINGS (That's right, sings. Very well)  "I’m so sick of singing about hate, It’s never gonna make a change" which pretty much sums up why he left the Gallows.
I love Pure Love and even though I saw them before their album was released (Leeds Festival 2012) I thought they were incredible, definitely one of my highlights of the entire festival. They basically preformed the whole set from inside the crowd rather than on stage, If you get chance definitely go and see these guys.
They released an album at the beginning of this year, definitely buy it. It's incredible.  It is called "Anthems"
Anyway here is my favourite...

This was their first single, listen and let me know what you think!

I Set My Friends On Fire (ISMFOF)

Where do I start with these guys? Weirdest thing I have ever heard. They are a Post-Hardcore/ electronic and they are a very, very experimental band with a very very unique sound. I originally listened to these guys a few years back because I liked the Lead Singers hair. (I'm now friends with the lead singer(Matt Mehana) on facebook)
When I listened to one of their first songs and enjoyed it, I then looked to see if they had an album out, turns out they did and it has one of the best album titles ever "You can't spell Slaughter without Laughter" which I own (It's on spotify). They have really weird track names that are pretty much all irrelevant to the lyrics like... "But the NUNS are watching" and "Reese's pieces, I don't know who John Cleeves is" which are both cracking songs. They released an album in 2011 called "Astral Rejection" which again follows the same theme with a track called "My paralyzed brother taps his foot to this beat" they do have some really interesting track titles. They are due to release an album later this year too called "Caterpillar Sex" So through this you can really get a feel of how weird they are. They got famous through a cover of "Crank that" by "Soulja Boy" which is a billion times better than the original. (Definitely listen to that song)

Anyway this is my favourite, used to be my alarm track you will probably be able to guess why...
Let me know what you think!

Rusko

After much deliberation I have decided to change this post. I read it back to myself and thought people reading this wont have a clue what I am talking about.
Anyone for a bit of Dubstep? Proper Dubstep not that rubbish WARMP WARMP repetitive rubbish,, by this I mean the rubbish you find on the Dubstep Collection CDs, the Dubstep that seems to play the same RUBBISH beat over and over again.
If you are then listen to Rusko, even if dubstep isn't your thing listen to this track.
It's tied between Skrillex and Rusko for my favourite Dubstep artist but I have chosen to write about Rusko.
All of Rusko's songs/ his remixes features some of the best drops I have ever heard, his style is similar to "Nero" absolutely class music to party to.
Rusko has 4 albums and dozens of tracks and remixes. Originally he started as a kinda paired act with somebody called "Caspa" (Who is also awesome) but now they have parted ways but the album they produced together is called "FabricLive.37" which has to be my favourite as it features all of my favourite Rusko songs, yes It could be seen to be repetitive, but I like the drops and the beats, after listening to this album I suggest you have a shower because its GRIMEY :). His latest album is a collaboration with the notorious Hip-Hop group "Cypress Hill" they work on songs together and have made some really great tunes.
Anyway this is my favourite, (which I have decided to change because the last one 'cockney thug' is old and Rusko has progressed a lot since then)

Not everyones cup of tea, I know. Let me know what you think

Eirik Gjendemsjø

Well I told you I'd cover a wide range of music! and here is some pop. Somebody requested I do a post on this guy as He said Eirik has "one of the greatest voices [he has] ever heard" so I decided to listen and read up on Eirik.
I found out that Eirik is only 17 now and that he finished in third place on Norway's equivalent of "Britain's got Talent" aged just 13, but surprisingly that isn't Eirik's greatest achievement, he has sung with the likes of "Andrea Bocelli", "Morten Harket"(Formerly lead singer of A-Ha)and Diana Ross!he sang with all those people before he reached 15.
He has released 2 songs they are called "The Greatest" and "Hello" which are both accessible on both Youtube and Spotify. He can sing rather well for his age, and is like a Norwegian Justin Bieber so if that is your scene you might like this guy. I'm not a fan of his latest song "Hello" yes his vocals are good but the beat he is singing over just doesn't go with the song however, his first song "The Greatest" is pretty good, chilled out and he is singing over a piano tune which his voice suites much better.
Anyway give it a listen and tell me what you think...
Not exactly my cup of tea, but let me know what you think!

Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats

Last post of the night, I just really wanted to write about these guys. These guys are another band who had hidden Identities but they have now released who they are. At one point they played no live shows, they were just a studio band and magazines like Metal Hammer questioned whether they actually existed. Before the band released there true identities they were simply named "Uncle Acid", "Kat" and "Red" They have participated in an interview with Metal Hammer (which is in this months edition)where they released their actual names! The genre this band fit into is kinda psychedelic metal/ doom metal. They have a very unique sound, sounding a tad like Ghost (Ghost B.C) and Black Sabbath. They like to sing about dark things... similar to the bands I just mentioned, so I suppose you could say a lyrical theme of this band is Occultism (Spoookkyyy). In terms of material they released an album last year called "Blood Lust" which is incredible! I listen to it on Spotify all the time. They have recently released another album (Like yesterday) called "Mind Control" which is also another great album! They have been announced to play Download festival and I think they and playing third down on the third stage, I will definitely be there (Sorry Motorhead) So my plan is Run from Alice in Chains and catch Uncle Acid. The combination of guitar and bass in this band create some monster riffs and some bad-ass Basslines! which I am a massive fan of, and the voice of "Uncle Acid" is fantastic! really unique, only persons voice that comes relatively close is "Papa Emeritus II" and that is still a million miles away. Anyway my favourite track is off of their first album...
I love it! Wicked track, let me know what you think.

Your Demise

BEWARE! THESE GUYS HAVE JUST ANNOUNCED THEY ARE BREAKING UP IN MARCH 2014 AFTER ALL THEIR TOURS! Thought I"d open up your eyes to this awesome band whilst you still have a chance to see them.
I have liked these for so long but not yet gone to see them, partly due to nobody else I know liking them. Anyway! Your Demise are a hardcore punk band from England. If I was going to compare them to anyone they're a little bit like "Architects" and "Every Time I Die" (If you like Your Demise, you should definitely listen to these guys) Your Demise have 3 albums out and have released some new songs this year. It has not be said I prefer their first album because It's a little heavier and I prefer the vocalist they had then in 2008, they seem to change the bands line-up a lot! I'm not saying I don't like the vocalist now but he is a lot more punky. They started in like 2003 and nobody in the band now was in the band back then...
Anyway this is my favourite...

Anyway like I said the vocalist has changed since then (twice I think)So give their newest material a listen "Karma" is a really good song. Let me know what you think...

Ghost (Ghost B.C)

Where do I start with these guys? Having read in Metal Hammer in this months edition that they have just sign to a major record label, and one day plan to sell out arena's and be as big as Slipknot/ Marilyn Manson...  Must be a little bit of potential here... There is, definitely.
Well what if I told you they were Swedish and their lead singer is called "Papa Emeritus II' and the rest of the band named "Nameless Ghouls" you might start to perceive what these guys are actually like. Best thing is though, these guys actually use voice changers during Interviews so the ghouls actually sound like Darth Vader! So nobody can recognise there voice. Obviously people have opinions on who "Papa" is but I could say I do, I haven't ever seen Chuck Norris and Papa Emeritus in the same room.. (Idiot logic people apply to the situation)
NOW! About the band... they have been compared to bands like Black Sabbath/ Mercyful Fate- Satanic rock bands if you like. They have just released a new album which means they have two now altogether, I have no listened to their new album which is called "Infestissumam" (Just realised, comes out worldwide 16th April, came out in Scandinavia 9th April) They have released a song off of this album called "Secular Haze" which I love! but my favourite has to be off of their first album which is called "Opus Eponymous" (It's on Spotify, give it a listen)
My favourite track is called "Ritual" I'm not going to post that, I'm going to go for something different to give you the full feeling of ghost hear it is...
Well That's Ghost! (Ghost B.C in America) Let me know what you think.

Disclosure

Just realised I haven't done a post on dance music (which is a genre I love!)  and is there a better place to start than my favourite dance act of the year so far? Disclosure. They haven't released an album as of yet, but they have released a few songs which are all available on Spotify. I love both of the singles they have released this year, but never fear! They are due to release an album later this year.
Disclosure are 2 brothers from England that create unique beats and have had some real good vocalists featuring on their tracks: Alunageorge and Sam smith, who's voices work really well with the tunes Disclosure make.
Can't wait to see these guys at Leeds Festival this year! going to be amazing!! :)

Anyway here is my favourite..

It was so hard to chose between this and "white noise" But I went for this! Tell me what you think :)

Turbowolf

WOW! Never listened to these guys before I saw them support Cancer Bats at KoKo. They were incredible. Basically, I think the lead singer is Jesus, just look at him, he is the coolest man ever. I really don't know what genre I would put these under but hear goes, they are a: Electronic Psychedelic Punk Metal band from Bristol, UK.
Ok, the frontman (Chris Georgiadis) keyboard skills are not fantastic, and the tunes he blasts out on the keyboard are very simple but they sound incredible when mixed with the whole song. The guitar and drums are good too. But Chris' vocals are out of this world, he had so much energy on stage too. He told jokes, he was so appreciative of the crowd.
I dont normally like it when smaller bands cover my favourite songs because sometimes it feels like bands try to get big off of bigger bands songs, but Turbowolf's version of Electric Feel is mind-blowing! It feature on their album which came out last year, which is simply called "Turbowolf" (On spotfiy, but i'd recommend you buy it)
Here is my favourite song...

Tell me what you think :)

Motionless In White!

This is another new band to me, I heard about them in the Metal Hammer magazine, they had an awesome write up so I thought I'd check them out. Anyway I spotifyd :S (Have I just invented a word) them when I got home, and I really do like them. They are a heavy metal band from America (AND THEY'RE PLAYING DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL!) They have been known to experiment with keyboards and they feature at the beginning of my favourite song by them.
I like the sound the band creates in their latest album "Infamous" and I do recommend you listen to it. Their first album is a little different however, seems to be a bit heavier, I still like it, It features a cover of Rob Zombies "Dragula" which I really like! :)
Anyway this is my favourite song..

Tell me what you think :)

Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All (OFWGKTA)

2 Words- Simply Incredible. This is a rap outfit made by up of a load of  rappers including Tyler, the creator, Frank Ocean, Earl Sweatshirt, Domo Genesis, Hodgy Beats, Mike G. My favourite member is Tyler, he is brilliant! (Also if you have Twitter, give him a follow. He's one of my faves to follow) Basically it's a sick beat as a backing track, and some immense lyrics over the top. I don't think I have ever heard anything like Odd future before, so I can't compare them to anything, so I suppose you'll have to listen to them! Search odd future on spotify and listen away.
When I saw them live at Leeds festival last year they were amazing, they put on a great show running around on stage and even did wrestling moves on a blow up doll! one of my highlights of the festival, so funny.

Tyler has just release a new album called "Wolf" its worth a purchase if you're into this music, but my favourite is off of his previous album "Goblin" Here is my favourite...

I try to sing along but I just can't manage it :( Let me know what you think!

Miles Kane

This guy is incredible, both as a guitarist and a vocalist. He produces some mammoth riffs and has one of the best voices I have ever heard. I saw him live when he played the NME tent at Leeds festival in 2011, he was incredible and sounded even better than he does on album. He is half of the group "Last Shadow Puppets" which is a super group, the other member being Alex Turner from the Arctic Monkeys!
Miles Kane is due to release an album in the late spring called "Don't forget who you are" he has recently released a single off of this album called "give up" which is another amazing song, this album is set to be another masterpiece. He has released one album previously which is called "Colour of the Trap" which is in my top twenty favourite albums, so many good tunes. (BUY IT)

But here is my favourite....

Give it a listen, tell me what you think!

Tame Impala

Now again, you may have heard these guys without knowing as one of their tracks is on an advert and that is the song I am going to show you. Tame Impala are a Psychedelic Rock band, simular to MGMT. I only started listening to these guys properly a couple of days ago as my friend recommended them to me. They're so chilled but yet electrifying It sounds weird I know but you'll understand when you listen.
They have three albums and I much prefer their latest one which is called "Lonerism" which came out last year, my favourite tracks on the album are "Elephant" and "Feels like we only go backwards". I'm so excited to see these guys at Leeds Fest, didn't realise they were playing until my mate told me.
All of their albums are on spotify, but I definitely think you should buy the latest one!
Here is my favourite song...

Tell me what you think!

AWOLNATION!

I can't remember why I started listening to these, I don't know how I stumbled onto them but I am glad I did. They have a very unique sound... kind of electronic rocky feel to it. They only have one album, and have recently released a deluxe version of it, it is called Megalithic Symphony (which is on spotify and is worth a listen or two) The lead singer (Aaron Bruno) has an incredibly unique voice, which I love!
I have not yet had chance to see these, they supported a band called "Billy Talent" on their UK tour, but I couldn't go as I was too busy at uni, and probably too poor :(

This is definitely my favourite song...

Listen and let me know what you think!

Brutality Will Prevail

I won't lie,  I had never heard of these guys before they were announced as support for the Cancer Bats on their UK tour. Brutality Will Prevail (BWP) are a heavy metal band but as well as some badass vocals they have conjured up some monster riffs! I even bought a BWP t-shirt at the gig I thought they were that good. The band had so much energy on stage, jumping around, the lead singer was mental! I don't think he stopped jumping once.
I had only really listened to one song before I saw these that was called "The Path" which is off of their latest album "Scatter the Ashes" (Which is on spotify, give it a listen) I absolutely adore the introduction in this song, when they played it I was banging my head like a giddy kid.
If you're into heavy music you should definitely check these guys out...
Here is my favourite song...

Tell me  what you think...

Atoms for Peace

This is my last one today,  I just has to write about these. Basically, this is a supergroup which consists of Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Thom Yorke from Radiohead on vocals. This is an experimental rock band who actually formed in 2009, but have literally only just released their first album "Amok", they released their first single last year which is called "Default" which is my favourite song by them. I waited so long to hear their album and it has contains some brilliant tracks like "Judge Jury and Executioner" which was their second single.
I found out they are going to be playing a few dates in London later on in the year in London too which I can easily get to. However,  when the day of the ticket release came I saw the price was over  fifty pound a ticket! and considering their album only has 9 songs on it... I thought no! I will probably regret the decision later as this will probably be the only chance I get to see them,as we all know what Supergroups are like they hardly ever tour,These guys especially seen as though Flea and Thom are pivotal members in their own bands which are also recording new stuff.
Anyway, this is my favourite song...

Do you like it? Let me know.

Sigur Ros!

There is nothing I enjoy more than laying on my bed at uni with a cup of coffee listening to these guys. They are so relaxing, so soothing. They are an Icelandic band which consists of all the conventional instruments like guitars and drum, but they also feature instruments such as a glockenspiel and a toy piano. They are just so cool. If you watch television you may recognise some of their tunes from adverts.

They have 6 albums! and one is due to come out this year, around June time!  it is going to be called "Kveikur " (Don't just listen to this one, listen to them all!) My favourite albums however are called "Takk", as it features my favourite song and "Valtari", which is their latest one which they released last year, this is one album that I can sit and listen to forever, tracks on this album I adore are "Ekki Mukk" and "Varúð"

I just find their sounds to be so mellifluous and calming, they often help me sleep! I think you should give them a go!

My favourite track is...

Simply a masterpiece, recognise it? Let me know what you think!

A$AP Rocky

I want to ensure I cover a range of music and this is one rapper I am currently in love with. He has also just released an album which is called "LONG.LIVE.A$AP" (Worth a purchase) I'm not sure why I like this guy, I don't normally like rappers who abide by the conventional stereotypes, singing about HOES AND TING, but this guy is different, and I do not understand why. I am really hoping I get to see this guy at Leeds Festival but! I think he is going to be on at the same time as System of a Down and I aren't missing them for nobody!

On the Album my favourite tracks are "F***ing Problems" and "Wild for the night" his album is riddled with other artists featuring in tracks, he has done songs with people from Florence Welch to Skrillex! There are a couple of tracks however which I aren't keen on but I won't tell you them, I don't want your opinions jaded by me.
Swearing features heavily in pretty much every song so beware! I was listening to "F***ing Problems" yesterday and my mum could hear it and she was saying "Adam, turn that off! I don't like all the swearing" -_- I was like BITCH PLEASE!

This is my favourite though...

Enjoy, let me know what you think!

Bastille!

So I'd guess I'll dive in with a band straight away rather than bang on about me.

So a band I am absolutely in love with at the minute is Bastille, they've just released an album called "Bad Blood" (Buy it! (I bought it) Download it! (ooo controversial, but lets face it why pay...)(I never download btw))Spotify it! (I'm a premium member, well worth it) whatever just get it) their genre is kinda synthy-pop to Indie-pop. The most popular tracks on the album are "Pompeii", "Bad blood" and "Flaws" If you listen to the radio, you've probably heard them. I love these songs! "Pompeii" is my favourite as well as "Things we lost in the fire"
Funnily enough, it was my sister that got me listening to these. She loves the lead singer "Dan Smith" and has asked me to try convince my mum to let her go to Leeds Festival with me to see them, as my mum ruled this out  we are now contemplating buying Evolution Fest tickets where they are also playing. These are one of the most popular bands about today, and their UK tour sold out. So glad I get to see them at Leeds Fest, I'll let you know how they are and who knows, I might see you there!

This is my favourite song!

Let me know what you think!
